“Gap of the Generation” (Pa’ar HaDor) is questions and answers from the Rambam, published from handwritten notes of HaRav Mordechai Tama, the grandson of Rabbi Eliezer Nachum, compiler of the book “Prophecy of Nahum,” Amsterdam 1765, first edition, 14 (1) 56 pages, 25cm. (Winograd 1856). Here the Rambam replies to questions on every facet of the Torah, answers to questions on his book “With a strong hand,” in his 41st answer the Rambam opens with figurative language and afterwards tells the story of his preoccupations and sicknesses. With a long introduction by HaRav Yaakov Shashfortz (the grandson of HaYedu’a), with dedicatory poems by many poets from the Amsterdam Jewish community. On the title page is the signature of the Rav Avraham Abukara—a Gaon and famous man from the sages and rabbis of Tunis, compiler of the book “Ben Avaraham” in Livorno 1882. Good condition, with a strengthening of the spine which is peeling from the binding. Faded signature.
