Lot 53:
Passover Haggadah, especially large and impressive, bound in a magnificent leather binding with gilt metal decorations on its front, binding all the 58 original silkscreens artistically drawn by the famed artist Yaakov Agam (born in Israel in 1928). Extraordinarily, all the prints are signed by the artist!
The introduction leaf states that "The original prints in this Haggadah, which were drawn by Yaakov Agam, were printed by hand on Rives paper, 270 gram, (Arjomarie-Prioux) by Atelier Arkai in Paris, 1985… the Haggadah had only three editions… 3) a numbered edition… (golden edition)… each Haggadah was signed by the artist (as stated, in this copy, all the prints are signed). All the color separations were done by the artist. All the printing screens which were used for the prints were destroyed". On the lower part of the introduction leaf, Agam’s signature and the Haggadah’s number: "145/180 G.E".
The Haggadah is placed in an impressive, matching leather case with gilt metal decorations. An additional case wraps the work (the scotch latches of the external case have partly fallen off). Minor blemishes to the external case. Stains on the framing leaves of the prints, not affecting the prints. Very good overall condition.
Maximal size of the external case: Height: 53.5. Width: 43. Thickness: 15 cm. Weight: 16 kg. Please pay attention to the heavy weight and the resulting cost of shipment.
