Sefer Hamidot, by Yitzchak Satanow, a Hebrew writer who was an active member of the Me’assefim (the first generation of the Enlightenment Movement) in Berlin. Satanow worked as the manager of the printery of the Maskilim, Chinuch Ne’arim, and published dozens of Haskalah books. He was a controversial figure and the disciples of HaGra fiercely came out against him. This book is the second section of his book Sefer Hachizayon dealing with virtues and mental attributes, Mussar and philosophy. At the beginning of the book, an "approbation by the Geonim" with seven signatures of German rabbis, apparently forged. First edition, Berlin – 1784. 144 leaves. 13.5 cm. Printed on quality paper. Fine copy in an original paper-cover wooden binding with a missing spine. Some moth perforations and stains. Minor other blemishes. Good overall condition.

– "Dr. J. Perles, Rabbiner" – Rabbi Peretz Josehp Perles (d. 1894), the son of Rabbi Baruch Asher Perles, a disciple of the Chatam Sofer. The Chief Rabbi of Munich and father of Rabbi Feibel Perles, Rav of Konigsberg (See HaChatam Sofer Vetalmidav, p. 94).
– "ישראל ב"כ יואל זאקס" – is mentioned in the PInkas of the Berlin community as the Gabai Bedek Habayit.
