Sacred copy that had belonged to Rabbi Tuvia Gedalya ben Rabbi Yehoshua Freund of Kroli, a disciple of the Chatam Sofer. On the title page:
"קניתי… הק’ טוביה פריינד" with his handwritten signature. In addition, a dedication handwritten by responsible for the books of the Sha’arei Zion Beit Midrash of Jerusalem:
"לביהמ"ד שערי ציון מעזבון הר"ר טובי’ גדליה בהרב יהושע זצ"ל מאונגארן"
Rabbi Tuvia Gedalya ben Rabbi Yehoshua Freund of Kroli (passed away in 1879), the son of Rabbi Yehoshua Freund of Kroli, a disciple of the Chatam Sofer. Immigrated to the Holy Land following a dispute with the status quo community led by the Gaon Rabbi Meir Perles. Rabbeinu’s grandson was Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Freund, Gaon Av Beit Din of HaEidah HaChareidit.
