Interesting ownership notations from Ashkenaz Jewry in the 17th century:
– "היום יום ד’ כ"ו אדר ת"ס, חתמתי את שמי לראיה, נאם משה בהר"ר חיים האמיל סג"ל" – Rabbi Moshe Homel Segal, a student of the Kloiz in Frankfurt, Rav of Baiersdorf and later, of Bayreuth, the Son of Mrs. Glickel of Hemlin who wrote in her famed memoirs that between Purim and Shavu’ot of 1700 she stayed with her son in Bauersdorf, for his marriage to Rabbi Shimshon’s daughter. This notation indicates that apparently, Rabbi Moshe received this book from his in-law before the wedding. His mother, Mrs. Glickel, was damed for her diary, which was one of a kind in its time. It had many ediitons and was translated into many languages. To this day, it is fertile ground for much reseacrh. The diary is of historiographic significance and her son, Rabbi Moshe, must be given credit for having copied it to preserve it.
– "נאום הק’ אברהם נייאשטעטל".
– "נאום הקטן שמואל המכונה זנוויל בכמ"ר יונה ווייל".
– On verso of the binding, a notation: "הר"ר שמשון פייאר שדארף" – possibly, Rabbi Moshe’s in-law or from a later period, Rabbi Shimshon referred to in Petach Einayim by the Chida (Shabbat 13a and 32): "הרב מהר"ר שמשון מק"ק פראיישדורף" – Rabbi Shimshon ben Rabbi Zekli who served as Rav of Baiersdorf and Bayreuth and was eulogized by Rabbi Yedidya Tiah Weill in 1773 (see Ma’agal Tov Hashalem, Mendelbaum 2022 ediiton, p. 99).
