Sefer Imrei Baruch, a Chassidic work on Sefer Bereshit by the Admor Rabbi Baruch Pinchas Rabinovich, the Admor of Skolia. First edition Wien, 1916. [2], 50 leaves. Approx. 21.5 cm. In this copy, the leaves with the list of subscribers at the beginning of the book and leaves 47-49 (with part of the last will of Rabbi Sheftil and prayers from Sefer Avodat Hakodesh) are missing. Dry and brittle paper. Several detached leaves. Some stains and taping. Good overall condition.
A rare book. On the title page of the book, a notation handwritten by the Chassid Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Sofer: "הספר קיבלתי ד"ג [דרשה געשאנק = דורון דרשה] מאדמו"ר מסקולא בהיותו בטבריא חורף תש"ב" referring the the author’s son, the Admor Rabbi David Yitzchak Isaac Rabinovich of Skolia, who frequently visited the Holy Land and especially Tzaddikum’s graves in the north of the country.
The Admor Rabbi Baruch Pinchas Rabinovich of Skolia (1874-1920) was the son and successor of the Admor Rabbi Eliezer Chaim of Skolia. He was a pedigreed descendant of the Baal Shem Tov, the Maggid of Zlotchov and other early Chassidic rabbis. Son-in-law of the Admor Rabbi Asher Yeshaya Rubin of Kolvasov. In World War I he moved to Vienna, where he lived until he passed away and where he was buried. Author of Imrei Baruch, Mincha Chadasha, Anim Zemirot, Divrei Baruch, Tal Orot, and more. He was known as a Tzaddik and Mekubal and dealt a lot with Segulot. [See more in Toldot Anshei Shem, p. 120; Meorei Galicia IV pp. 653-658; HaChassidut (Alfasi) pp. 394-395.
His son, the Admor Rabbi David Yitzchak Isaac Rabinovich of Skolia (1897-1979). Succeeded his father as Admor in Vienna. In 1939, escaped to England. Later, he moved to the USA, settling in the Lower East Side and Williamsburg. In 1970, moved to Borough Park. Was known as a wonder-worker who had vast knowledge of Nigleh and Nistar, Authored dozens of books on all subjects of the Torah. Passed away in London and was buried on the Mount of Olives, near the grave of his relative Rabbi Shlomo of Zvehil.
The Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Sofer was born in Tiberius in 1928 to his father, Rabbi Asher. On his mother’s side, he was a descendant of rabbi Moshe Ber of Stolin. In his youth, he studied in Jerusalem and at the Slabodka Yeshiva of Bnei Berak. By the order of the Admor [Rabbi Yochanan Perlov of Karlin], he founded the Chavurat Bachurim in Tiberius. Since 1957, he served as the Rosh Yeshiva of the Metivta DeRabbi Yochanan of Tiberius. When the yeshiva was closed in 1968, he moved to Jerusalem where he served as Ram of the Sochatchov Yeshiva. In 1973, he opened the Nezer Yerushalayim Kollel and was one of the founders of the Beit Aharon VeYisrael Beit Midrash of the Ezrat Torah neighborhood of Jerusalem. He passed away in Adar 2019 and was buried in the ancient cemetery of Tiberius (Issue 229 of Beit Aharon VeYisrael, p. 158).
