One of the only known copies in the world! Sefer Ketzot Hachoshen – by the Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leib Hacohen – Rabbi Yisrael Yoffe – Kopust after 1817 (on the title page: 1797 – see below). 87, 21 leaves. New binding. Trimmed edges slightly affecting the text of the title page. Some moth perforations. Good overall condition.

One of the single approbations by the Rav of Zvhil

The book contains an approbation by the Admor Rabbi Moshe Goldman, the first Admor of Zvhil who was the son of the Maggid of Zlotchov and a disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin and th eKedushat Levi. An extremely rare approbation, one of the five approbations that were ever written by Rabbeinu.

Appearing on the title page are the handwritten signatures of important and famed rabbis:

1. On the upper part of the title page, a notation and owner’s signature: "קניתי מהוני ס’ קצות החשן ב’ חלקים בעד… הק’ צבי הירש במ"י זצ"ל החונה פה קראשנוויץ" – referring to the Gaon Rabbi Raphael Zvi Hirsch Shapira Av Beit Din of Kroshnevitz, author of Kuntres Eretz Hachadasha, correspondence between him and the Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leib Tzintz. Handwritten volumes of his Chidushim are in the Gottesman Library of the Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Yeshiva in New York.

2. In the center of the title page, the Hebrew and foreign signature and stamp of the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Chaim Rasehvsky of Ozrakov, author of Chukei Daat on HIlchto Shechitah and Chukei Chaim on the Bible.

In addiiton, the stmp of his father, Rabbi Eliezer Rashevsky.

On lhe leaves there are two handwritten hlosses and dozens of corrections – not studied.

Interesting!

The place of printing does not appear on the title page of the book; the printer’s mark, however, is that of the Chassidic printer Rabbi Yisrael Yoffe of Kopust. In addition, the year on the title page is 1797. The approbations, however, are from 1817. Apparently, for fear of the censor, Rabbi Yisrael tried to make this edition similar to the Lemberg 1797 one and therefore, omitted the place of printing and changed the year of printing.

Extremely rare!!!
