Lot 85:
Lengthy and impressive letter written on both sides of official stationery – handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Leibovich Av Beit Din of Reitag – addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon Margolis – with details about his book Damesek Eliezer – Retiag, 1928.
In 1928, Rabbi Yehoshua Leibovich published the work Damesek Eliezer on Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim, a work by his grandfather the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Leibovich, with a special addition edited by Rabbeinu. Originally, the work was written as an abbreviated commentary on the words of the magen Avraham on the Shulchan Aruch. Rabbeinu integrated the commentary into the words of the Magen Avraham (like our contemporary Schottenstein edition of the Talmud). In his lengthy letter, Rabbi Leibovich asks Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon, who was then in New York, to serve as his agent in the USA for selling his books.
