Lot 78:
Sefer Yesod HaEmunah by Rabbi Baruch of Kosov – Second edition Chernowitz – 1864. [4], 154, [2] leaves. Stains and some tears (professionally restored). Minor blemishes. Old, worn binding. Good overall condition.
On the title page and the preceding leaves, many notations indicating the copy had belonged to the Admor Rabbi Avraham Steiner of Kerestir (1883-1027), the only son and successor of Rabbi Yeshayaleh and the son-in-law of Rabbi Michael of Djirke. Was known as a wonder-worker who followed in his father’s footsteps as a man of kindness. His sons-in-law were Rabbi Meir Yosef Rubin and Rabbi Naftali Gross.
On the margins of the pages, 6 glosses, one of them lengthy, in fine square script.
Stamps of Rabbi Naftali Gross (passed away in 1988) the son of Rabbi Raphael Hatzaddik Av Beis Din of Berbesht and the son-in-law of Rabbi Avraham of Kerestir. Served as Admor in Debretzin. Survived the Holocaust and eventually reached the USA, establishing a synagogue in Crown Heights. He lived for some time in Israel and in his old age, in Miami.
Signatures of Rabbi Yekuteil Yehdua Gross Ritshe, apparently the son of Rabbi Shmuel Gross of Krola (the son of Rabbi Raphael HaTzaddik Av Beit Din of Berbesht and the son-in-law of Rabbi Yeshayaleh. Was a disciple of his cousin, the Atzei Chaim, in Siget. In 1921, served as the Rav of Ritshe).
Additional signatures and notations: "רפאל שטיינער", "אברהם גרינוואלד", "ישראל אברהם שמש דבהכנ"ס דק’ קעשינב" and more – not studied.
