Teshuvot Ketav Sofer, the famed work by Rabbeinu Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Sofer, the son and successor of Rabbi Moshe Sofer, the Chatam Sofer, of Pressburg. At the beginning of the book, Ketav Shem MiShimon – a letter by the author’s brother, Rabbi Shimon Sofer of Krakow, to the author’s sons. The section of Orach Chaim – first edition, Pressburg, 1873. [3], 130, [4] leaves. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod, p. 84 of the additions. Stains and some moth perforations. Some taping and tears. Good overall condition. 

On the title page, a handwritten notation:  "לה"ו קנין כסף א"א [אדוני אבי] היקר כהר"ר ישעי’ יששכר המכונה ר’ ישעי’ בער ווייסס… קנה הספר הלזה ה’ צו ה’אמרת [תרמ"א – 1881]. דברי משה ווייסס". A statement signed by Rabbi Moshe Weiss, the brother of the brothers Rabbi Shabta Sheftil of Simonyi and Rabbi Yitzchak of Verbau, indicating the book was owned by their father, Rabbi Yeshaya Yissachar Weiss. Throughout the book, several small handwritten corrections – possibly by the owner of the book or one of his sons. 

Rabbi Yeshaya Yissachar (Yeshaya Ber) Weiss, the son of Rabbi David of Kitze. The son-in-law of Rabbi Mordechai Praguer (who was a descendant of the Megaleh Amukot). Was born in Pressburg and circumcised by Rabbeinu the Chatam Sofer. Was famed for his virtues and friendly disposition. The father of Rabbi Moshe Weiss of Pressburg, Rabbi Shabta Sheftil of Simonyi, Rabbi Shmuel and Rabbi Yitzchak of Verbau.
