Lot 52:
Warm letter of recommendation handwritten and signed by the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yaakov Kaminetzky, one of the leaders of USA Jewry – addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yaakov Sofer – Monsey, 1974.
Rabbeinu wrote his letter as a recommendation for the Nezer Yerushalayim Yeshiva under the presidency of the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Sofer. Among others, the Rosh Yeshiva writes "מוסד תורני חשוב מאד מגדולי ארה"ק מרבים בשבחו… העוסקים בתורת ד’ טהורה ויגעים לאסוקי שמעתתא אליבא דהלכתא…" At the end of his letter, Rabbeinu blesses all the supporters with the blessing of "ברוך אשר יקים את דברי התורה הזאת".
Maran the famed Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Kaminetzky (1891-1986), one of the contemporary leaders of Chareidi Jewry. A disciple of the Saba of Slabodka and Maran the author of the Birkat Shmuel. In Lithuania, he served for approx. ten years as Rav of Tzibtian. In 1937, immigrated to the USA where he served as Av Beit Din of Tornoto. Several years later, he moved to New York where he served as the Rosh Yeshiva of Torah Vada’at, the most famous yeshiva in the USA in those days. In his old age, he lived inMonsey, edited his Emet LeYaakov books.
