Lot 35:
Sefer HaEdot Vehamishpatim containing two sharp articles against the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Elazar Shapiro, the Minchat Elazar of Munkatch. The first article includes the "deeds" of the Munkatcher Rov and the second, "evidence" by varied rabbis concerning the above.
Single edition – Lviv, 1927. 48, 12, 70 leaves. In the Rare Book Collection of the National Library.
Swords and Zealotry!
The dispute which, apparently, was caused by varied statements of the Rav of Munkatch against the Gaon Rabbi Yissachar Dov of Belz, became most unpleasant and like in other struggles between Galician Chassidim, all restraints were lifted and what is written here about the Rav of Munktach should not be repeated. The material is truly spicey; anything added by us would not be able to express the emotions demonstrated by the book.
Loose leaves. Minor stains. Some moth damage close to the spine. Good overall condition.
A historical item documenting one of the greatest cultural wars of contemporary Chareidi Jewry.
