Semicha document for a Shochet from Beirut, Lebanon! Fine, artistic scribal script with verses and decorations – with lengthy additions handwritten and signed by Rabbi Yaakov ben Rabbi Yosef Hacohen of Selthon Av Beit Din and Chacham Bashi of the town and the Gaon Rabbi Nachum Etrog Rosh Av Beit Din Ashkenazim of Safed – Beirut, 1917.
At the top of the document, the verse "זבחו זבחי צדק וכו’" is written with red fonts in a semi-circle. In its center, there is an illustration of a star-of-David with the word "Beirut" in its center. On both its sides, verses in red forming a circle.
The document is signed by the Shochatim and Bodkim Rabbi Yisrael Isser Lerman and Rabbi Yisrael Aharon Margolis.
Beneath the central text, there is a lengthy Semicha document of approx. seven lines in Sephardic script signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov ben Rabbi Yosef Hacohen of Selthon, Av Beit Din of Beirut and Chacham Bashi.
Beneath his Semicha, there are words by the Gaon Rabbi Nachum Etrog the Rosh Av Beit Din Ashkenazim of Safed and Ram of the Chatam Sofer Yeshiva, handwritten and signed by him (Rabbi Etrog’s script is slightly faded).

The Gaon and Mekubal Rabbi Yaakov ben Rabbi Yosef Hacohen of Selthon (1851-1923), the Chacham Bashi and Av Beit Din of Beirut. A Gaon in Nigleh and Nistar who used to wake up every midnight to learn at the ancient synagogue of Rabbi Chaim Vital. Author Devar Yaakov, Beit Yaakov and more.
The Gaon Rabbi Bachum Etrog (1860-1938) Rosh Av Beit Din Ashkenazim of Safed, the Rosh Yeshiva of HaRadbaz Torat Eretz Yisrael and Ram at the Chatam Sofer Yeshiva of the town. In 1927, published a eulogy for Maran the Admor Rabbi Yissachar Dov of Belz titled Dovev Siftei Yeshenim.
