Lot 128:
Elevated hexagon black velvet Kipah, like the fashion of Romanian rabbis and Admorim, the Kipah worn by the Rebbe Rabbi Motaleh (as he was affectionately called by Shlomei Emunei Yisrael], the Admor of Vizhnitz who lived in Monsey, USA. A rare, touching item. It should be noted that his sons the Admorim Shlita also wear such Kipahs. Wear and minor unravelling. Very good overall condition.
Enclosed is confirmation by the owner of the item recalling the history of the Kipah.
The Admor Rabbi Mordechai Hager of Vizhnitz (1922-2018) was the son of the Admor Rabbi Chaim Meir (the Imrei Chaim of Vizhnitz). He served as the Admor of Vizhnitz in Monsey for 46 years. In his youth, he studied under his grandfather, the Ahavat Yisrael of Vizhnitz, a disciple of Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum of Satmar and Rabbi Yosef Greenwald of Papa. He survived the Holocaust and married the daughter of the Admor, Rabbi Yaakov Yosef of Skvira. After her early untimely death, he married her younger sister, moved to the USA with his father-in-law the Admor of Skvira and served as Rav of the Vizhnitz community in Borough Park and Williamsburg. In 1964, he moved to Monsey where he established his community of followers. He later established additional communities in Israel and around the world. Today, after his passing, his sons serve as Admorim around the world.
