Sefer Torat Chaim, Chassidic Divrei Torah by Rabbi Chaim Hager, the second Admor of Kosov, the son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel the author of Ahavat Shalom, one of the basic books of Vizhnitz.
Edited by his sons – first edition, Lviv, 1855. [1], 5-38, [1], 7 leaves. (Without the 2 leaves of the table of errors and omissions which were added to some copies). Stefansky Chassidut 616. In the Rare Book Collection of the National Library.

At its end, varied Likutim by the author. On verso of the title page, a foreword by the author’s three sons: Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon – who succeeded his father in Kosov, Rabbi Yosef Alter and Rabbi Menachem Mendel, the Tzemach Tzaddik. In the foreword, they wrote among others "ויקרא שמו (של החיבור) בישראל תורת חיים כאשר רשם בכתב יד קדשו…".
Binding matching the period, loose. Leather spine. Some of the pages have wider margins. Stains. The last leaf is restored. Good overall condition.
On verso of the back board and the title page, a handwritten signature: "הק’ משה ליב שו"ב" – referring to Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Leib who, as indicated by his signature, served as Shochet and Bodek of Safed. Was the son of Rabbi Sheraga Feivish who was appointed as a Shochet by the Rebbe the Torat Chaim himself. Known is correspondence between the Rebbe the Ahavat Yisrael of Vizhnitz and the Rosh Av Beit Din of Safed, Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel Rubin, referring to Rabbi Moshe Leib as "החסיד המופלג מו"ה משה שו"ב נ"י". In addition, he signed the book of regulations of the Bar Yochai Yeshiva and appears in the list of subscribers in the book Ezor Eliyahu. Passed away in 1912 and was buried in Safed (see: Alei Zikaron 49, pp. 20-23).
