Sefer Mateh Yehuda, unique work on Zemirot Shabbat and Birkat Hamzaon, divided throughout into two sections: commentary and glosses with important grammatical comments. Includes also Dinim and commentary on Netilat Yadayim, Birkat Hamotzi and Zremirot for Motza’ei Shabbat, Hanukkah, wedding, Birkat Hanissu’in, Milah and Seder Pidyon Haben, Eiruvin, Seder Kaparot and more. By the famed grammarian Rabbi Yehuda Leib (Yehuda Aeyeh Lewey) ben Rabbi Shmuel Oppenheim one of the Dayanim of Gluga, a relative of the Gaon Rabbi David Oppenheim who even approbated the work.
Edited by his son Rabbi Shmuel Zanvil – the Press of Bone Pantroe de la Newey – first edition Offenbach, 1721. 32 [i.e. 31] leaves. On the colophon: "proofread by Rabbi Yosef Katz the son of Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Katz of Krakow". In the Rare Book Collection of the National Library.
Approbations by leading Askenazic rabbis: Rabbi David Oppenheim of Prague, Rabbi Yosef Shmuel of Krakow-Frankfurt, Rabbi Avraham Broda, Rabbi Shmuel Shotin. Following the approbations, Ma’asseh Norah on grammar and then a fine important introduction by the author.
New binding. Title page with engraved illustrations of the zodiac, cherubs and Moshe and Aharon. Trimmed headings – in the printing process? Moth damage. Stains. Fair-good overall condition.
On the lower part of the title page, an ancient Ashkenazic notation: "זה הספר שייך ה"ה נאלוף הראש והקצין… (blurred and hidden by a later stamp) והרבני מוהר"ר ר’ שמואל מק"ק דידאן?". On leaf 2, an ancient stamp: "מתנה מהרב ר’ יעקבסואן" – not thoroughly studied.
