Damesek Eliezer, laws from the Shulchan Aruch Orech Chaim in Ladino, organized alphabetically, by Rabbi Eliezer Papo, author of the well-known mussar work Peleh Yoetz. First edition.
Two title pages, the first lists the printing year as 1861 while the second lists 1860—but the colophon lists it as 1860. [7], 231 [8] leaves in the original—this copy has only the second title page in Ladino, [4], 7-231, [3] leaves (it is possible that fewer pages are missing than it seems, there are disagreements between the different bibliographic listings).
Introduction from the author and indices in Ladino. At the beginning are subscriber names including further flung members of the author’s family. Old, worn binding, decorated and inscribed. Leather spine, title page repaired, stains, lone pages have tears in the margins, overall good condition.
The spine has the inscribed name: “Refael Maissy”.
