The Jewish Halacha book, Shulchan Aruch, by Rabbeinu the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Karo of Safed who is commonly known as the Beit Yosef in the name of his second work on Arba’ah Turim. 

A Milestone!

The Halachic book that was accepted by Jews all over the world. The Rema wrote his famed glosses on the work and both became the major Jewish Halachic book. 

First edition – by Rabbi Meir Franz – Venice, [1565]. Originally, 131, [1] leaves. In this copy, the title page is missing and it begins with leaf 36. In addition, leaves 40-45 are also missing. Leaves 121-131 [1] are a photocopy. This copy also contains a restored leaf with Rabbeinu the author’s introduction to Orach Chaim and the indices. 

In the Rare Book Collection of the National Library. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod, 157. 

Quality paper from at least two copies. Many restored leaves some of them with lack. Some moth damage. Detached sheets. Detached binding. Fair-poor overall condition. 

In several places, significant Italian glosses. Elsewhere, an ancient stamp:  "הצעיר חיים בן משה".
