Fascinating historical document ‘Distribution of bread to yeshiva students’ by the JOINT, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. With 133 signatures of residents of Jerusalem, including many signatures of leading rabbis.
Historical document, four pages, bearing the logo of the JOINT from Tamuz 1961. The document contains a list of the students of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva, who received loaves of bread from the JOINT, the number of people in each household and the signatures of the receivers [133 signatures!]. Among the signatories, the Geonim Rabbi Zelig Braverman, the brothers Rabbi Chaim and Rabbi Yehoshua Brim, Rabbi Yitzchak David Gottfarb, Rabbi Shmuel Houminer, Rabbi Binyamin Cheshin, Rabbi Ze’ev Twersky, Rabbi Yosef Salant, Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Fischer, Rabbi Chaim Uri and Rabbi Sender Freund, Rabbi Zundel Kroiser, Rabbi Yudel Rabinowitz, the Admor of Pinsk Karlin Rabbi Aharon Rosenfeld and many more.
