About the author and his work
The author, Rabbi Yaakov ben Raphael Segal of Posna, was the son-in-law of Rabbi Yitzchak Pardes. In an approbation for the first edition (Seder Tikkunei Shabbat with the Minchat Yaakov commentary – Prague, 1651), the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Eilanburg Av Beit Din of Lisa wrote of the author that he was a holy man and one of the sages of Posna. The author himself, in his introduction to this edition, writes that since he had no children, this work is what will commemorate him. The work eventually had numerous editions and was favored by Chassidic communities.
