Rabbi Natan Zvi Finkel (1943-2011) was the revered head of the Mir Yeshiva from 1990 until he passed away. Under his management, the yeshiva developed hugely. Despite his illness, the Rosh Yeshiva would never rest, instead founding more and more buildings and frameworks for study, until the yeshiva reached what it is today. He passed away on the 11th of Cheshvan, 2011, and was accompanied at his funeral by Gedolei Hador and tens of thousands of his disciples.
