Lot 119:
An Otzar Beit Din agreement signed in Jerusalem between Rabbi Yehuda Zvi Kahan and the Beit Din of Jerusalem, led by Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, in which they appoint him to collect his fruits for the Otzar Beit Din of Jerusalem.
“The Gaon Rav above appoints us…to oversee the grape harvest and collection of olives and the almonds from his trees…the price of the wine he will sell will be less than the price of that he took last year. The olives and the almonds will not be sold at all and he will send them to Jerusalem for the poor…”.
This was signed in Jerusalem before the era of the Eida Charedit, when three Batei Din (Chassidim, Prushim, and that of Rabbi Yehoshua Leib Diskin) were in operation. Due to the importance of the matter and the need for a regular supply of food to Jerusalem in those days, two of the Batei Din (in a rare case) signed the document – Prushim and Chassidim. Rabbi Moshe Nachum Wollenstein and Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank of the Prushim Beit Din, and Rabbi Lipman David Shuvkes and Rabbi Avraham David HaKohen of the Chassidim signed the document. They were joined by Rabbi Chaim Berlin, Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Yaavetz, the Rav of Kremenchuk (who did not serve in an official capacity), and Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld.
