Lot 80:
"מיין טאגע בוך" – my diary, a handwritten notebook in Yiddish, by a young Lithuanian man, describing his dreams and thoughts and his fascinating journeys. The content indicates he was a true Ben Aliyah who had gone through the yeshivas of Gedolei Yisroel and documented his experiences in his diary. His words enable a peek into worlds that have been destroyed. His language is rich, in Yiddish-German style.
He integrated headings that assist in understanding what he writes. For example, at its beginning:
"מיין לעבן אין סלוצק ווען איך בין אלט געווען עלף (עלעוו: 11) יאהר און מיין מוטערס נסיעה נאך סלוצק" (my life in Slutzk when I was eleven and my mother following me to Slutzk).
Please refer to Hebrew catalog text for additional excerpts of the text.
20X16 cm. Front board only, detached with a single leaf. Good overall condition.
35 written leaves. An authentic and rare item that opens a window to a rich world that was destroyed, the important scholarly Lithuanian Jewry and the flourishing yeshiva world before the war. The writer’s name is unknown, yet what he wrote is worthy of being thoroughly studied.
