Lot 7:
Shulchan Aruch Even HaEzer. This edition includes, for the first time, Hagahot HaGra or Be’urei HaGra – the large, important work of the Gaon Chassid Rabbeinu Eliyahu of Vilna, which is considered one of his central and fundamental works.
First edition – Vilna and Horodna, 1819. This edition is the first complete one. At first, it was printed in Horodna in 1912 without the title page and up to Siman 26. In this edition, the printers included the entire work on Even HaEzer and a title page, foreword and elucidations were added as well as the Beit Shmuel and Chelkat Hamechokek commentaries around the text. They also added the original leaves of the previous edition. See: Vinograd Otzar Siferi HaGra 753 and 754.
Originally, [2], 3-24, 23-55, 188 leaves. In this copy, [2] leaves at the beginning are missing – the title page and the introduction and approbations. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod 169.
No binding. Stains and considerable wear. Fair overall condition.
Inside the book, there are three glosses in ancient Ashkenazic script, one of them lengthy and significant noting a quote from the book Tana Dvei Eliyahu by HaGra.
