Lot 5:
Sefer Bikurei Yaakov on Hilchot Sukkah and Lulav. The first work by the gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yokev ben Rabbi Aharon Ettlinger (Ettlingen), Av Beit Din of Altona and the state who was known in the name of his famed work as the Aruch Laner.
First edition in the author’s lifetime – Altona, 1836. 81 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. Stefansky, in Sifrei Yesod, refers to a later edition (1858) which was printed with his novealle Aruch Laner on Masechet Sukkah.
A touching poetic and rhymed introduction by the author explaining the title of the work and recalling some of his biography, including the death of his son, Yitzchak: "נלקח ממני בעוני בן חמש שנים עליו יהמו מעי…. אלה דבר המתנפל לפני הבורא, ומתודה בלב נדכה וירא…".
Stains. Good condition.
