Buyer's premium:

Rare letter handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Veksler Av Beit Din of Schwabach. Sent to Rabbi Avraham Adler Av Beit Din of Ashpenburg. Schwabach, [1847]. Apparently, the content of this historical letter was never published! The letter deals with a request from the German Emperor to allow the rabbis to determine the curriculum of Jewish schools.

Internal dispute?

Rabbi Avraham, who was one of the leaders of German Jewry, notes that already in 1841, he spoke with a minsiter who promised to do something yet יצא לשטן כנגדי הרעבינר במינכען שהלך עם… ובטל את דברי ע"י מלשינות שלהם…".  Later in the letter, Rabbi Avrahaqm writes sharply against Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Halevi Bamberger, who does not take the matter seriously enough.

[1] double leaf, two written pages. 25.5 cm. Fair-poor condition. Considerable wear to edges affecting the text.
