Auction 70
Lot 359:
Letter handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Leib Astrinsky Av Beit Din of Leeds, addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Yitzchak Segal the Rosh Yeshiva of Manchester – Leeds, 1933.
The content of the letter: fundraising for the Hebron Yeshiva. In is interesting to note that Rabbi Astrinsky sent his letter to Rabbi Segal in Manchester rather than the to the Hebron Yeshiva. Possibly, Rabbi Segal was the chief trustee of the Hebron Yeshiva in Britain. An interesting indication of the network of activists the Hebron Yeshiva was weaving, with every Liyhuanian Rabbi feeling privileged to support the firat Lithuanian yeshiva in Eretz Yisrael.
Rare! Letters by Rabbi Asrinsky have never been seen in auctions.
