Lot 333:
Hora’ah Semicha handwritten by the Mussar Gaon Rabbi Avraham Yoffen, the son-in-law, disciple and successor of Rabbi Yosef Yossel Horowitz, the Saba of Novhardok – Brooklyn, 1964.
A rare Semicha document, uncommon in Lithuania, written by the son-in-law and successor of the Saba of Novhardok – Rabbi Avraham Yoffen. The Semicha was given to Rabbi Yosef Segal of Haifa. In this Semicha document, Rabbeinu writes: "להודיע בשער בת רבים… איך שנשתעשתי עמו ב"ת בכמה סוגיות ופוסקים ומצאתיו שידיו רב לו למשקל ולמטרי בחריפות ובקיאות… וכל מן דין סמוכו לנא יורה יורה ידין ידין…. ואשרי הקהילה שתבחר בו…"
The version of the document is very similar to the common version of Semich documents in Hungarian communities; it is extremely rare to find such Semicha letters from leading Lithuanian rabbis!
Official stationery.
