Auction 70
Lot 31:
Siddur "Beit Tefillah according to the custom of the Sephardim…" – Shlomo Belforti Press, Livorno, 1892. 208 leaves, 415, [1] pp. Leaf 73 is missing. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection.
Wonder of wonders! Appearing on the last leaves: Kri’at Shema for children including the first Parasha and some verses and on the last page: Birkat Hamazon for boys containing three non-traditional rhymed blessings that are an abbreviation of the three blessings of Birkat Hamzaon: "…הזן אל העולם כלו, והכין לכל בריותיו מאכלו, ושולחנו ערוך לכל, ברוך אתה.. הזן את הכל". "רחם על עם עני ואביון, הנתונים בלעז ובבזיון…".
Special miniature Siddur. Leather binding matching the time of printing – apparently handmade. Some detached leaves. Moth damage to some external leaves. Some tears not affecting the text. Stains of usage. Some taping. Fine copy in good condition, especially for prayer books that are frequently used.
