Lot 308:
לסבת ממשלת הזדון של הנאצים, שבתה עבודתי (due to the evil government of the Nazis, my work had ceased) – fascinating appeal by Rabbi Shmuel Ephraim Tiktin for sending biographic material for the Encyclopedia of Rabbis he was editing – New York, 1949.
"קול מניו יורק קורא אליכם" (a voice from New York is calling to you) In his appeal, which was sent to rabbis all over the world, Rabbi Tiktin asks to be sent their short biographies and the following details:
1. Date of birth (day, month and year), hometown and private address.
2. The yeshivas in which he had studied and the names of rabbis who gave him a Semicha.
3. The names of the communities of which he was Rav and the name of the current community and its nature.
4. Names of books he had already published.
5. His activities for Jewry and his community.
"ואם המצא תמצא בידו תמונה הגונה לא גדולה ממדת כרטיס דואר… והייתה עטרת תפארת לראש תולדתו…" (and if he has a good picture, no larger than a postcard…)
Unfortunately, Rabbi Tiktin’s work was never published.
