Bavli Talmud with Rashi, Tosfot, Rosh and the Rambam’s Piskei Hamishnayot, with additions of Chidushei HaMaharshal, the Maharsha, Maharam of Lublin and more. Published by Rabbi Avraham ben Yosef Hacohen Rechin Berger of Chrnovich and Rabbi Menachem Mendel Eisenberg of Barshchov. Printed in Chernovich by Johann Ekhardt, [1845]. Stereotype printing of the 1839 edition.
On verso of the title page of Masechet Berachot, approbation by the Yismach Moshe, the holy Admor Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum Av Beit Din of Ohel: "…הדפסת הש"ס גדול וקטן בק"ק טשערנאוויץ ביופי והידור כתבנית סלאוויטא, ונלווה עליהם גדולי המפורשים… כ"ד המדבר לש"ש להגדיל תורה ולהאדירה, יום א’ ט’ ניסן תקצ"ט לפ"ק פה ק"ק אוהעל יצ"ו, הק’ משה טייטיל בוים".
1. Masechet Berachot and Mishnayot Seder Zer’aim, 1839. Two title pages with red lettering for Masechet Berachot. Separate title page for the Rosh and Mishnayot. [1], , 81 (mispagination), 81-82; 49; [1], 3-36, 38-81, [1] leaves. The [1] leaf contains the indices. Wide margins. Late leather binding. Stains. Moth perforations. Some taping and some other minor damage. Good overall condition.
A single pencil gloss. Ownership signature of Alexander Susskind Yekutiel? and a list of books he owned. An additional signature: "נפתלי מיטדיג…?".
2. Masechet Psachim and Masechet Chagiga, 1840. Two title pages with red lettering for Masechet Psachim. A separate title page for Masehcet Chagiga. [1], 147, 18; 32 leaves. Wide margins. Late leather binding. Moth perforations. Some taping and other minor damage. Good overall condition.
In this section, several pencils and ink glosses, 2 of them lengthy and significant. Varied notations including שייך… מו"ה מאיר קליין", "אלכסנדר יקותיאל זיסקינד….?" and lists of students’ names.
3. Masechet Eruvin of the second edition that was published in Chernovich. A rare section that is not in the National Library. 1847. Two title pages with red lettering. [1], 163 leaves. Moth damage. Stains and additional old damage. Old, worn binding. Ownership stamps and signatures. Fair overall condition.
4. Masechet Makot. 1843. One black title page. 32 leaves. Moth perforations and some moth damage. Stains and some other blemishes. Leather binding with blemishes. Good overall condition.
