Lot 221:
Masechet Chulin of the Bavli Talmud, with the varied commentators. Printed by Rabbi Moshe Shapira of Slavuta, the son of the Admor Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz one of ther leading disciples of the Baal Shem Tov.
Under the government of Emperor Alexander Povlovich – Slavuta, 1813. [1], 170 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears of course in the Rare Book Collection. Title page with red lettering.
Loose and unravelled binding. One partly detahced leaf. Moth damage to the external leaves. Minroi stains. Some minor tears. Some bluish paper. Fine copy in good condition.
On the title page, stamps: "חברת תלמוד תורה אהבה ואחוה מצרים" – a yeshiva headed by Maran who was later knoiwn as the Rishin LeZion the Gaon Rabbi Ovadya Yosef. Notation on the title page: "שייך לבית המדרש דקהל חסידים בעה"ק צפת תובב"א". An addiitonal Sephardic notation that has not been studied. On the flyleaf, a foreign stamp of the above yeshiva and an Arabic signature.
