Sefer Hachaim, "to instruct man on the way he should behave before he sins and after he sins, and how to behave with his Creator and family members…" by the Gaon Rabbi Chaim ben rabbi Bezalel. He was the brother of the Maharal of Prague and a friend of the Rema of Krakow. Was famed for his work Viku’ach Mayim Chaim, criticizing the Rema’s words in his book Torat Chatat.

The book was published several times previously and was now published "by the order of the Admor of Mezhibuzh" – the Admor Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apta, author of the Ohev Yisrael. Mezhibuzh, 1817. Originally, [2], 25, [1], 26-33 leaves. It seems that some leaves are missing from this copy (see below).

In his approbation, the Rav of Apta writes: וכל איש החפץ חיים יבחר בספר הקדוש הזה… והש"י יכתב ויחתם אותנו בספר החיים".

Old binding. Detached sheets. Much moth damage. Poor overall condition. Several of the last leaves are glued to each other, which makes it difficult to know whether and how many are missing.

Inside the book, varied notations that have not been studied.
