Binah LeItim on the Rambam, Hilchot Yom Tov, and on Masechet Beitzah, by the great Gaon Rabbi Yonason Eibschitz, author of the famed scholalrly works: Urim Vetumim, Creti Ufleiti, Ya’arot Devash and many more.
Published by his disicple Rabbi Hillel ben Leib of Shtompy, with a foreword by him – first edition, Wien 1796. [2], 30, 4 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. A foreword by the great Geonim Rabbi Mordechai Bennet Av Beit Din of Nikolsburg and Morvia and Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kitze.
Much moth damage. Detached leaves. A dark stain on the upper part of all leaves – see pictures. Worn, detached binding. No spine. Poor overall condition.
On verso of the binding, an ancient Ashkenazic signature and notation: "קניתי מהוני לכבוד צורי וקוני בעד 50 ג’ אני הק’ יעקב קאפל בריל"ל בן ר’ יהושיע פאן סילאד שאמלויא יע"א היום יום א ד תצוה שנת תרל"ב לפ"ק פה ק"ק פרעסבורג יע"א". – the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Kopel Brill (1850-1934) the son of Rabbi Yehoshua Brill. The leader of the Shamloy community during the time of the revered Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich. He also headed the Chevra Kaddisha and was a loyal Gabai for the poor of Eretz Yisrael.
In addition, a signature on the flyleaf: "שבתי זאב פינס"? On the title page, two ancient signatures that are difficult to decipher.
