Buyer's premium:

Sefer Arugat Habosem "containing words of the Sages and their riddles scattered upon the Bavli and Yerushalmi and Midrashim, with comments… by Avraham Menachem Mendel Mohr of Lviv". The interesting work contains 653 sayings of the Sages and their elucidation, alphabetically ordered.

Polemic!

In his introduction, the author writes about the source of his work: "The source of these words… and when they were published, no one knows…". Actually, the work is a translation of the book  Rabbinische Blumenlesse, by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Docks (Leipzig, 1844) who desperately claimed that the translation was done without his permission. Later, the wrongdoing continued when in some copies, another title page replaced the existing one: "Reprinted here in Lviv".

This is a copy with the first original title page. First edition of the translation – Lemberg, 1848. 144 leaves. Detached back board. Much moth damage. Stains. Fair-poor overall condition.

A stamp on the title page: "שמואל טויבער רב בבהכ"נ אגודת אחים וויען" (Shmuel Tauber Rav of the Agudat Achim synagogue of Wien).
