Letter of Condolence written several days after the passing of Sir Moses Montefiore, signed by the leaders of the Chassidic community of Tiberius. Av [1885]. The letter was sent to Yosef Sabag, Sir Montefiore’s nephew and to Dr. Rabbi Eliezer Halevi, Sir Montefiore’s Secretary. The signatories: the Rosh Av Beit Din Rabbi Mordechai Weiss of Munkatch (the Uncle of the Imrei Yosef), Rabbi Avraham Yosef Halevi Segal Horowitz, Rabbi Mordechai Motel Ashkenazi, Rabbi Aharon Shmuel ben Rabbi Moshe, Rabbi Yosef mendel Toshker, Rabbi Chaim ben Rabbi Zvi Hirsch. All added their handwritten signature and personal stamp to the letter. 

[1] double learf. 35 cm. Fine scribal script. Good-fair condition. Aging stains. Fold lines. Small tears to edges, not affecting the text.
