Lot 67:
פון ביטרען נויט און שרעקליכען הונגער – letter of gratitude by the Toras Emes Yeshiva, with the handwritten signature of the Gaon Chassid Rabbi Chanoch Hendel Havlin, the manager of the yeshiva, indicating the terrible situation of the Jews of Jerusalem between the two world wars – Jerusalem, 1932.
In the letter, the heads of the Toras Emes Yeshiva thank the Gaba’it Feldman for the donations she sent from the USA and confirm they have written down the Yahrzeit dates of the donors. The letter indicates the difficult situation of the Jews of Jerusalem in those days: "און מיר שיקען אייך אונזער בעסטע ברכה… איהר צו העלפען או צו שאפען נייע מעמבערס, וועלכע זאלען קומען צו הילף די הייליגע ישיבה, וואס ליידעט יעצט פון ביטערן נויט און שרעקליכען הונגער" (we send you our blessings … for your help to bring new friends to help the yeshiva, which is suffering from bitter need and terrible hunger…").
On verso of the leaf, the Gaba’it Feldman wrote a lengthy response letter, with interesting details about the conduct of the charity funds and the Gaba’it and her relations with the donors etc.
