Sefer Likutei Amarim Tanya by the Admor Hazaken Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, a special edition with a bibliographic section and photocopies of previous Tanya editions, published for the Rebbe’s 80th birthday on the 11th of Nissan – New York, 1982. Binding reinforced with tape. Blemish to spine. Beyond this, good overall condition.
Sticker on the flyleaf, with the recipient’s confirmation: "ספר זה הוא מתנה נתונה מאת כ"ק אדמו"ר ר’ מ"מ שליט"א מליבאוויטש. בהפאברענג’ן של יום הולדתו יא’ ניסן תשמ"ב בהיותו שמונים שנה. והוא הכרת הטוב לכל אשר היו בפאברענגן לכבודו, ובהוספת מתנה נתן עוד דולר לכאו"א".
Enclosed is a $1 banknote. Good condition. On it, the notation: "מיד כ"ק אדמו"ר שליט"א". The recipient’s identity is unknown to us.
The 11th of Nissan, the 80th birthday, was one of the greatest occasions in the history of Lubavitch. On the 11th of Nissan 1982, thousands of guests from all over the world gathered in 770 for the Hitva’adut.
This Hitva’adut is remembered as one of those with the largest number of participants ever. Before the Hitva’adut ended, the Rebbe announced the Chalukah of this edition of the Tanya and a dollar banknote – to each and every one of the participants – as a token of appreciation. The Chalukah continued to the early hours of the next morning.
During the Chalukah, the Admor took a book in his right hand and then handed it out with his left hand. (See more: Mazkeret Netzach, pp. 14-15).
