Auction 68
Lot 77:
Chumash Devarim with the Onkelus Targum, Rashi’s commentary and Baal HaTurim and more. The press of the partners, grandsons of the Rav of Slavuta Rabbi Chanina Lipa and Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Shapira – Zhytomyr, 1857. 120 leaves including Sefer Kohelet.
This item does not appear in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book and is not in the National Library (there, only the section of Shemot appears in the Rare Book Collection). The National Library states it does not have the section of Devarim and the pagination there is based on HebrewBooks. However, this copy contains additional leaves (with a separate pagination) appearing after Megillat Kohelet, containing a Siddur for Sabbath morning, rendering this copy extremely rare and valuable.
Originally, there were two title pages; this copy contains only one and then begins with leaf 4. In addition, the leaves with Tefillat Amidah of the Sabbath MUssaf are also missing.
Old, worn binding, without a spine. Stains. Moth perforations and damage. Much wear due to usage. Poor overall condition.
