Auction 68
Lot 33:
Passover Haggadah "אויפט נייא אינס דייטשי איבר זעצט אונד מיט נוצליכה אנמערקונג פרזעהן" – with a new Judeo-German elucidation and practical comments. In addition: "בנעבסט איינע דייטליכע ערקלערונג על חד גדיא" – an elucidation on the mysterious Piyyut Chad Gadya. "As printed in Berlin and we have added a nice elucidation… by the Gaon Alsheich and by the Gaon author of Olelot Ephraim".
Apparently printed in Offenbach. Indeed, the printer’s name does not appear on the title page. However, he was identified by bibliographic scholars by the printer’s mark appearing on the title page [a deer lying beside a jug and flora] as the printer Zvi Hirsch Segal Spitzer – 1795. 54 leaves. Yaari 262; Otzar Hahaggadot 380. Wood-engraved illustratons. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. Original binding, worn and loose. Many wine stains and signs of usage. Loose or detached sheets. Good overall condition.
