Sefer Pninim Yekarim, on the Torah, Nevi’im, Ketuvim and Aggadot HaShas, by Rabbi Shimon Bezalel Neuman of Torna author of Yalkut HaRoim and Meshiv Nefesh – Warsaw, 1926. [2], 56, 16 leaves. Some tears to the edges of the leaves. Stains and moth perforations. Dry paper. Good overall condition. Varied notations. Fine new binding.

Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Yaakov Gottlieb (1877-1936) was the son of Rabbi Avraham (student of the Divrei Haim, the Mahari of Zidichow and the Yeitev Lev and more). He was named in honor of the Divrei Haim of Sanz, his uncle Rabbi Mordechai (the Dayan of Rimnov), and his grandfather Rabbi Yankele of Boyam. In his youth he studied under the Rayatz Rata (the author of the Beit HaYotzer), the Admor Imrei Yosef of Spinka (and studied with the Admor’s son in a Chevruta), and the Arugas HaBosem, who considered him highly and mentioned him in his book. Received his rabbinic Semicha by the Maharsham of Brezhan. He served in the rabbinate of Maidan, Bursa, Vishay, Rizowoliya, and Mishkoltz. He was a leading Hungarian Rav before the Holocaust, and was known as a wonder worker. He wrote the Yagel Yaakov on the Torah, Shulchan Aruch, and drashot.

His son Rabbi Yehuda Gottlieb (passed away in 1974) succeded his father as Av Beit Din of Mishkoltz. Was the son-in-law of Rabbi Yeshaya Kleinman of Satmar. Was famed for his work for She’erit Hapletah and especially for Hatarat Agunot. 

Rabbi Sheraga Shmuel Schnitzler Av Beit Din of Tshaba (1889-1980) the son of Rabbi Baruch Yehuda, a descendant of the holy Gaon Rabbi Shmelke of Nikolsburg. Was a Chassidic Rav of several villages and towns in Hungary. Was a famed wonder-worker. Was a disciple of Rabbi Menachem Brody of Kaliv and Rabbi Yehuda Greenwald of Satmar and a leading Chassid of the Maharid of Belz and his son the Admor Rabbi Aharon, He merited being buried near Rabbi Aharon’s gravesite. Was Rav of Tshaba (Békéscsaba, Hungary). After World War II, immigrated to Jerusalem, where by the advice of his holy Rav of Belz, he refused a position of Rav and where he passed away in 1980. After his passing, his Divrei Torah were published by his grandson and successor Rabbi Meshulam Shalom Weinberg in the book Birkot Shmuel. His father-in-law (by his second marriage) was the Admor Rabbi Eliezer Zussia of Skolen. His descendants are important Chareidi Admorim, Rabbis and dignitaries in Israel and abroad.
