Lot 221:
On the title page and the last leaf, stamps: " שמואל אהרן ראבין" – the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Rubin, the Rav of Krotshin, one of the Geonim of Galicia and a leading disciple of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. Was chosen by his great Rav to edit the Divrei Chaim’s responses and Maran the Divrei Chaim, in return, funded the publishing of his book. Became famed for his work Beit Aharon -Mishpatei Gittin and Shut Shem Olam, where he corresponded with leading contemporary rabbis such as the Shoel Umeshiv. Authored a commentary on Psikta Derav Kahana titled Zera Yishai.
In addition, stamps of his son Rabbi Yom Tov Lipman Rubin. He, like his brother, immigrated to Eretz Yisrael, where he passed away in 1929 and was laid to rest on the Mount of Olives.
Mysterious and important!
Appearing on the two flyleaves are handwritten signatures: "חיים הלברשטאם" According to the famed expert on scripts, Rabbi Shimon Schwartz, the script is similar to that of Maran the holy Gaon Rabbi Chaim Halberstam, the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, who, as stated, was the Rav of the owner of the copy Rabbi Shmuel Rubin. Enclosed is a review handwritten by Rabbi Schwartz.
Sefer Hazohar on the Torah, the sections of Vayikra Bamidbar and Devarim. As printed in Amsterdam. According to the title page, the year of printing is 1800. However, this is a fake and according to the colophon, the true year is 1845. Printed in Krotshin. 115, [1], 117-311, [12] leaves. The last leaves include indices of Zohar Gadol and Zohar Chadash and Tikkunim.
Well-preserved ancient leather binding. Stains. Professionally restored leaves. Some moth perforations. Good overall condition.
