Et Sofer Section III, authored by the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Zussman Sofer Av Beit Din of Paks – First Edition Paks, 1892. [2], 98, [2] leaves. Slightly dry leaf. Small tears to the edges of some leaves, stains and other blemishes. Fine new binding. Good overall condition. Pencil corrections and markings in many places in the book. On the flyleaf, lengthy handwritten notations – have not been studied.
On the title page, a dedication handwritten by the author’s son and successor as Rav of paks, the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Leib Sofer: יום ג’ לסדר והיה ברכה שנת תרס"ב לפ"ק, מנאי רבו אוהבו הק’ יוסף ליבהגאון רא"ז סופר". Unfortunately, the upper edge of the title page is trimmed so we do not know who the book’s owner who received such a special and important dedication was.
The Gaon Rabbi Yosef Leib Sofer Av Beit Din of Paks (1861-1918) the son and successor of the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Zussman, author of the Yalkut Eliezer. Was a leading disciple of his father and of Rabbi Simcha Bunim Sofer, the Shevet Sofer. Author of Likutei Sofer and Yalkut Sofer. Travelled with his in-law to the Admorim, the Kedushat Yom Tov of Siget, Rabbi Yechezkel Sheraga of Shinova, rabbi Yehoshua of Belz and more.
