Lot 185:
Two volumes of Sichot Mussar by Maran the Rosh Yeshiva the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Shmuelevitz containing the content of the many Sichot Mussar delivered by the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir, the Tzaddik gaon Rabbi Chaim Shmuelevitz, from the years 1971-1972. The Sichot deal with varied important issues such as the honor of the Torah, happiness in life, faith, Mamar Galut Haschinah and many more varied issues in Jewish thought.
First edition. In one volume, detached leaves. Has not been studied to see if all the original content appears here. Varied blemishes to the cover. Good overall condition.
Appearing in one of the volumes is a dedication handwritten and signed by the Rosh Yeshiva to his in-law, Rabbi Avraham David Rosenthal: "לידידי מחו’ הרב הגאון המפורסם כש"ת מוהר"א דוד רוזנטל שליט"א לאות ידידות ח. שמואלביץ".
Inside the volume there is a leaf with his handwritten instructions for writing a Ketubah, apparently also to his in-law: "איך השם המלא של כבו’ ושל החתן. שלי – חיים לייב שמואלביץ. מאיר".
Rabbi Moshe Feinstein wrote about the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Leib Shmuelevitz (1902-1979): “The entire world rests on the shoulders of Rabbi Chaim.” Rabbi Haim Leib Shmuelevitz was known as Chaim Stochiner after his city of birth, Stochin. He served as the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir in Lithuania, succeeding his father-in-law. During the Holocaust, he smuggled the yeshiva to Shanghai and made efforts to take care of the other refugees there alongside the Mashgiach Rabbi Yechezkel Lowenstein.
The owner of the copy, Rabbi Avraham David Rosenthal (1904-1999) was a Rav Posek and Dayan, an important Jerusalem rabbi. He served as Rosh Av Beit Din of the Ashkenazic-Prushim Beit Din, Rav of the Sha’arei Chessed neighborhood, and Rosh Yeshiva of several yeshivas and kollelim. He authored the series of books Be’er HaMelech.
