Lot 173:
Fascinating historical protocol with the agreement between the famed philanthropist Rabbi Yisrael Zupnik and the HaEidah HaChareidit and its institutions – Jerusalem, 1955. 32X20 cm. Good condition.
Background: Anyone walking up Strauss St. of Jerusalem will see to his right a large yard with varied buildings around it – the Zupnik square and Zupnik buildings named after the famed Chassid Rabbi Yisrael Zupnik, who was a beacon of light of the institutions of the community during the first days of the State by contributing substantial sumsto support the institutions of Jerusalem.
This is a special item, the protocol of an agreement by which Rabbi Yisrael gave from his fortune for building the offices of the HaEidah HaChareidit, and additional institutions, at the Zupnik Sqaure.
Rabby Yisrael Zupnik states his plans:
It is interesting to note that according to this agreement, the project cost $80,000 including the plot! (How much is the plot worth today?…)
An additional original clause of the agreement is the following;
(the assumption is that this was the directive of the Admor of Satmar, aythor of VaYoel Moshe…)
