These books by Maran are the first in which Rabbeinu first revealed his vast knowledge of Torah and Halacha caused astonishment and admiration immediately upon their publication and on the other hand a great controversy following Maran’s rulings which sometimes contradicted those of Maran the Ben Ish Chai.

Opposed Zionism and was famed for his zealous outlook, refusing to accept an official position by the National Council despite the pleas of the Rishon LeZion Rabbi Ben Zion Meir Chai Uziel. Was one of the first to sign the broadside published by the Rabbis of Eretz Yisrael forbidding girls to enlist into the army.
