Lot 13:
Sefer Shivchei HaBaal Shem Tov, the ancient and famed work that revealed to the world for the first time the greatness of the Baal Shem Tov.
According to Chabadic tradition, the author heard most of the stories from the Admor Hazaken and others from Chassidim who heard them from the Admor Hazaken. The book indicates that the Admor Hazaken explained their content; therefore, the book was addressed in general as authentic. On one of the stories, the Admor the Tzemach Tzedek wrote: "כמדומה הוא לשון זקני בדיוק" and the Rebbe mentioned this version of the Tzemach Tzedek several time.
The year and place of printing was not noted on the title page. According to the National LIbrary: Rare Edition Lvov? 1840. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. [44] leaves. Bluish paper. Worn, detached binding. Many moth perforations an ddamage. Fair-poor overall condition.
When one of the daughters-in-law of the Tzenach Tzedek became ill, he ordered to read to her passages from the book Shivchei HaBaal Shem Tov and she recovered, indicating the book’s Segulah.
