Color title pages. Section I: Bereshit Shemot: [5], 203, [2] leaves. Section II: Vayikra Bamidbar Devarim: [4], 154 leaves, 46, [3] pp.
Two sections in two volumes with original bindings. No spines. Minor stains. Good overall condition.
On the flyleaf of volume I, a dedication in fine eloquent script: "…להעלם הבר מצוה… נתן יהודא… בן הרב הצדיק.. משה ליפשיץ שליט"א רב בפילדלפי’ מאת ש"ב המברכו בכל טוב הק’ מנחם מענדיל הלברשטאם". The initial assumption was that the writer of the dedication was the Admor of Stropkov the second Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam. However, according to our reseacrh, this is not his script and apparently, another Rabbi Menachem Mendel wrote this dedication.
The addressee of the dedication is the Admor Rabbi Natan Note Yehuda who lived in Jerusalem and was known as the Admor of Philadelphia.
Stamp: "הרב חיים אורי ליפשיץ" – the brother of the above Rabbi Natan Yehuda, the son of Rabbi Moshe Lifshitz the Admor of Philadelphia. The grandson of the Admorim the Yismach Moshe and Aryeh Dvei Ila’ah. Founded a yeshiva and Beit Yaakov in Philadelphia. Author of several halachic and Aggadic books including the Uri Chaim series of books.
