Sefer Torat Chovot Halevavot, by the Dayan Rabbi Bahya ben Joseph ibn Pakuda. 2 sections. With Hebrew Teitch and the Manoach Halevavot and Marpeh Lanefesh commentaries. Printed in Sudilkov in 1820. In the National Library, the book appear sin the Rare Book Collection. Printed on quality bluish paper. Title pages with red lettering.
Section I: [4], 192 leaves. The year appearing in 1820. The censor’s license is from 1818. We did not find such a copy with such pagination in the various libraries.
Section II: [1], 49, 118, [2] leaves. Without the title page that was originally printed with it. The leaf with the copyist’s foreword was bound at its beginning rather than end as was originally. Instead of the title page, an original (slightly larger) title page is enclosed, with red lettering and 2 leaves of another edition that was printed in that same year in Sudilkov. Semi-leather binding, possibly original, with scuffs and blesishes, detached.
In the first section, an approbation by Rabbi Yisrael of Pikov, the son of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev and a warm approbation by Rabbi Ephraim of Sudilkov.
Two sections in two volumes. Varuied bindings. Stains and blemishes. In each volume, a gathering with moth damage. Detached sheets in one volume. Some tears affecting the text. Some detached leaves. Fair-good overall condiiton.
Stamps: "בהמ’ לייפציגער מפאלטישען", "מנחם מרדכי תאומים פרענקל". Ownership signatures: "אלי’ מלוצק", "שיך לר’ צבי צורף" An dditional ancient notation.
