The leaf following the title page contains a question by the Shoel UMeishiv and the author’s response. And it is told that once, when Rabbi Gershon entered the home of the Shoel UMeishiv, the Shoel UMeishiv was dealing with a difficult Kushiya. The young Rabbi Gershon asked for permission and quickly solved it. The Gaon was impressed and asked him where he was from. From Poland, he replied. A Chassid, asked the Gaon, indeed, the Rav replied. The Gaon then cried with admiration, King David already said: "הושיעה כי גמר חסיד", also a Chassid knows how to study and gave him an approbation for his book. After the book was published, rabbis objected to its Talmud-like format. So in the second part (printed in Piotrekow, 1903) the top of each page bears the title (Sefer Sidrei Taharot) in order to distinguish it from the other tractates of the Shas.
The author: Rabbi Gershon Hanoch Henich Liner of Radzin (1839 – 1891), Baal Hatechelet, was the third Admor of Izbitza Radzin, and renewed the Tchelet tradition. He was a disciple of his grandfather Rabbi Mordechai Leiner, the Mei Hashiloach. He authored many books, including Sod Yesharim, Sidrei Taharot, Tiferet HaChanochi, Ptil Techelet and more.
